Ice Cream Social and Client Appreciation

On August 3rd, Great Oak hosted a Client Appreciation Ice Cream Social. We had a great time serving delicious ice cream and socializing with our clients and their families. We also enjoyed being able to offer over 20 different raffle prizes to our guests, both young and old. And not just to those who could join us in person, but also to many of our clients who couldn't make it to our event! Thank you again for all who put their trust in our team.

2020 Updates

This summer Great Oak planned to host a Graduation Open House and Ice Cream Social. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these plans were put on hold and have been postponed to a future date.  In lieu of getting together in person we have worked really hard to communicate often by email, as well as by sending update letters. If we do not have your email address on file and you would like to receive our updates, as well as our short 2-minute Monthly Market Insights videos, please send a quick email to info@greatoakfin.com, or click on the CONTACT US button on our home page.

2019 Updates

This year we chose to focus on our face-to-face client meetings, along with conversations with clients on the phone. We worked hard to communicate often via email and snail mail. It is important that we stay in contact, so feel free to reach out to us anytime. Keep your eye out for our upcoming event the Summer of 2020.

July Client Appreciation BBQ

We had a wonderful turnout at our client appreciation BBQ that was held in Salem at the home of one of our advisors, Sherman Ober.  Thank you to everyone for joining us.  We appreciate our clients, and our friends, and enjoyed the time we had together to celebrate our partnership with you over the years.

Taxes & MLCD Seminar

With the new tax laws just around the corner we decided to host a Tax and Market-Linked CD Seminar in May.  For the tax portion discussed an overview of the upcoming tax law changes, along with new opportunities in tax planning. This presentation was given by our two in-house CPAs, Daniel Porth and Debbi Reaves. For the CD portion we discussed new opportunities for cash that had 100% principal protection when held to maturity, which are a great opportunity in times of low interest bearing accounts. Give us a call anytime if you want to discuss the CD opportunities any further, or reach out to Dan or Debbi on our CONTACT page with tax questions.

Community Shred Event

Great Oak Financial Group, in collaboration with Wix Insurance Agency, and Porth & Unrein, PC, hosted its second successful free document shredding event. Community Shred Event Results

On Saturday, November 7, 2015, we held our first ever free document shredding event, partnering with, Wix Insurance Agency, and Porth & Unrein, PC.  Volunteers from Greater Salem Young Life joined in the fun at Promontory Financial Center in south Salem to help our clients and the local community prevent fraud, protect their identities, and recycle.  A mobile shredding unit from Shred 4 Less was on hand to securely destroy sensitive documents.

During the three-hour event, over 50 cars came by to drop off bags and boxes of sensitive documents for shredding.  In addition to preventing fraud, this event made a real impact on the local environment: we recycled approximately 3,300 pounds of recyclable paper.  As a result of this, the following resources were conserved:

  • 28 Trees
  • 627 Gallons of Oil
  • 11,500 Gallons of Water
  • 6,600 Kilowatt Hours of Energy
  • 5 Cubic Yards of Landfill Space

We would like to thank the Young Life volunteers for their help!  Thanks to the generous donations made during this event, a gift of $470 was made to help send kids to Young Life camp.

We were excited to be able to offer this free and necessary service, and look forward to doing it again!
